The trans Labrador highway is mostly a dirt highway between Labrador City in the West and Happy Valley/Goose Bay in the center. From Goose Bay you take a ferry to Cartright on the East Coast. By 2009 a road should replace the ferry which will allow you to travel from Quebec all the way to the coast of Eastern Labrador.

We spent about a day in Battle Harbour, a historic seaside community in Labrador. It's now setup as a heritage museum site by the government of Canada. You can do a day trip to the Island or stay overnight as we did.

If you want to learn more about Battle Harbour, their official website is at http://www.BattleHarbour.com
