Hola, Acapulco!
DSCN0880b
This mod hotel which was the bomb in the 60s has maintained it's hipness after all these years. Rooms start at $925/night. We did not stay here.

Paul contemplates sunny Acapulco and likes it.

Los Clavadistas, the cliff divers, strut their stuff at high noon. This diver landed perfectly, seconds before the wind or tide might've smashed him into the rocks.
DSCN0890a
A cliff diver prays for a perfect dive. Elvis did the exact thing in a campy film with Anne Margaret. Perhaps the King IS alive and living in sparkly Acapulco.
DSCN0893
We couldn't get enough of this death-defying clavadistas. Here's a tandem dive that made the entire crowd gasp in awe.
DSCN0900
This dive stole the show as it was from the highest point. A 10.0!
DSCN0901
Paul did a double take when he saw this bar named after his childhood neighborhood back in British Columbia.
DSCN0903
Acapulco Bay, teeming with activity.
DSCN0908
Dot smiles coyly while imagining her dream cliff house with fresca flowing freely from a fountain and the world's curviest pool deck.
DSCN0909
Acapulco Bay can also be quiet and serene.
DSCN0910
Sunday is family day in all of Mexico and Acapulco is no exception. The beach was alive with vivacious family scenes, rowdy teens and romantics!
DSCN0915
A day at the beach. Acapulco is a fine blend of big city, public beach scene and seaside resort.
DSCN0917
Unable to afford a room at the million dollar Inn, we settled on a lush campground in the center of all the hooplah. I think Paul is teaching Bert how to parallel park in this shot.
DSCN0918
The view from our campsite. Pastel pink and aqua high rise hotels, surrounded by palms and bouganvillea. What's not to smile about?
DSCN0920
Here is the zocalo (town oval) where there is a big, decorated gazebo and many festive cafe's and shops. This is where the locals hang out and keep cool.
DSCN0922
Paul enjoys the shade on the terrace of a zocalo cafe.
DSCN0926
This Hotel is called "Hard Times. It was nestled between "Good Times" and "High Times."
DSCN0929
We spent 2 nights in this totally groovy hotel in Acapulco's "old town." It had a chic, tiny swimming pool and a lobby straight out of your favorite over-the-top nautical lodge.
DSCN0936
Another fine view of Acapulco Bay from the ritziest part of the city.

Beauty and the Beasts.

Exclusive, yet glamorous!
