Our first stop in Guatemala was at Tikal, the ancient Mayan village. |
Witness La Ceiba, Guatemala's national tree. Wild! |
Dot rests her bootie on the first of many ruins. |
An ancient Mayan hieroglyphics sign that says "don't take pictures of this." |
 A crazy flower close-up. |
The ruins of Tikal peek out from the jungle treetops. |
If you look closely, those are people on top of that pyramid. |
One of these ruins was so steep they needed to build a wooden ladder to reach the top. |
 They runied it. |
Another incredible ruin in Tikal. |
Bert and Paul study the ancient ruins. |
"What have we here?" asks Dot. |
"....all the better to eat you with my dear." |
"OK, moving on, no intention of touching you." This animal is a cousin to the racoon, just like Dot. |
 Ruinalicious! |
 "What, no escalator!" |
"You can trade your monkey for what's beneath Mayan slab number one or Mayan slab number two." |
Extraordinary Mayan ruin in Tikal. |
 Courtyard amongst the ruins. |
 Indiana Jones and wife? |
"Oh come on, I could have built this myself." |
We got delayed in front of a banana truck at the Honduras border. It took 23 hours to enter this country. The horse gave us his opinion of this border. |
The weekend we were in Honduras we planned to go snorkeling on Roatan Island but a storm came out of nowhere and travel was difficult as evidenced by this bus. |
