After Whistler we headed towards the Okanagan Valley. Here we are adjacent to the Fraser River near Lyton BC, whitewater capital of Canada.

Entering the Okanagan Valley, Canada's most famous wine and fruit region (and most famous retired person's region too). Person shown only on extended vacation, not retired yet.

Okanagan Lake connects many communities in the Okanagan Valley. They say a loch ness type monster called "Ogopogo" lives in the lake.
DSCN0116a
Of course we had to stop and claim our territory near Dot Ranch.
DSCN0117
Speaking of Ogopogo, Paul has tamed this elusive, mighty beast in downtown Kelowna. Had it been a live Ogopogo we would be $1 million richer.

We stayed with our friends Dave and Rose in Kelowna. They were camera shy but Jasmine, their spunky pre-schooler had no problem hamming it up for the camera.

Dot and Jasmine, celebrities in their own minds, pose for the paparazzi.

Dot and her friend "Vino Tinto" pose at "The Burrowing Owl" winery near Oliver, BC. The Vinyard is below.

"Everything I know about grapes you could fit in this handful of grapes."

Soon these will be mushed into wine and sold for big money in liquor stores across the land.

"I've never milked a cow. This is much better!"

Large vinyard near Osoyoos, BC. Here we are only about 5 miles from the US border.

This old medieval castle, circa 2001, is pumping out the primo vino. We particularly enjoyed the tasting here as they gave us yummy sharp cheddar cheese and good conversation.
DSCN0137
This is Black Hills, a very small "boutique style" winery. We bought a very nice wine here which they creatively wrapped it in straw for us.

Following the Okanagon region we traveled East to Grand Forks, BC and visited our friends Nancy, Owen, and their baby Liam.
DSCN0145
Farmer Owen, Nancy the tractor queen, and Angus, their big black dog.
DSCN0149
Owen and Nancy left Vancouver to run an organic farm in Grand Forks. In front of Owen's Harley is some of their squash harvest.

Liam contemplates cabbage, daddy contemplates Liam, and Angus doesn't contemplate anything, he just chases things.

Dot, Liam, and Angus play in the pumpkin patch. "Is that the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?" "No, Weed Hopper, it is the great shadow of Shutter Bug Paul."
