Welcome to beautiful Puerto Vallarta, one of the original Mexican resorts on the Pacific Coast. You're cool if you call the town "PV." |
We saw many VW buses used as commercial vehicles. This is a recent model complete with an air cooled engine (Yes, that's a radiator in the front). |
The newly refurbished malecon (seawall and boardwalk) that was completely levelled during the Oct 2002 hurricane. |
One of the two footbridges that separates old town PV and the newer tourista section. Perhaps Dot's zeal has to do with the shrimp market on the other side. |
The road bridge over the Rio Cuale. Behind the town are stately homes and luxury hotels on the mountainside. |
We stayed in this hotel for a few nights. Dot particular liked it for the pool, cafe and private terrace. It is a very safe neighborhood, two blocks from the beach, parking right in front. |
We stopped alongside the ocean during a rugged hilly run on cobblestone streets. |
A stretch of PV shoreline. |
 "I'm number one!" |
A private PV residential neighborhood. For those who can afford it. |
More lovely homes in PV. |
This is the end of the Malecon behind PV's first hotel. There is a pool just to the right of this photo. |
Paul just hanging out with a couple of stoners. |
PV's cathedral just off of the zocalo (town square). |
As goofy as it looks, we enjoyed the dolphin show at the Splash water park just north of PV. |
Dolphins walking on water before they play snoot-ball for their fish dinner. |
While we were in town we entered a 10k road race. The race was for a local charity one Sunday morning and they closed off the main street. |
Paul was happy when he finished because it was a hot, humid, and the longest 10k he's ever seen. |
Dot came in third place for her age group. She was also lucky to win the raffle for a free dinner at Senor Frogs, which ended up being delicious and fun. |
Paul eyes a new 2003 old style Beetle, made in Mexico. This model is basically as it was in 1976 except the price is around $6,500 USD. Too bad they aren't certified for use on US roads. |
Paul and Dot along with Mike, Cathy, and Richard. Fellow campers we hung out with at the parking lot Campground of Hotel Frankfurt. |
The beach south of PV where they filmed "Night of the Iguana" starring Richard Burton and Liz Taylor back in 1963. |
This is Paul's movie. "Day of the Iguana Barbeque" |
